In order to dismantle Trumpism, we need to make sure that Democrats win seats in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Our goal as a group is to support and back the Democratic candidates, just like we did for Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock in Georgia. This will include campaign donations, efforts to register voters, and encouraging Congress to pass voting rights legislation. As a general rule for the group, we need to always make sure our efforts go to benefiting the candidate. Always check in with that specific campaign staff to make sure your effort is welcomed as an out-of-stater.
Profiles for each candidate and how we can provide support will soon be available on our 2022 Midterm Elections page. 270toWin has a fantastic interactive map to explore the upcoming Senate races.
Several races to keep an eye on are listed below.
Arizona Current Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly will be on the ballot again in 2022 after defeating former Republican Sen. Martha McSally in December 2020. Kelly's win signifies a major shift in the Arizona legislative playing field, making this state one of the newest battleground states which is expected to remain competitive.
Florida Because Sen. Marco Rubio won by a 8-point margin the last time he was up for reelection in 2016, Florida must back a strong Democratic candidate in 2022.
Georgia Remember Former Sen. Kelly Loeffler? She could be going up against Sen. Raphael Warnock in the 2022 Georgia Senate race. Former Sen. David Perdue has announced that he will not run against Warnock. Sen. Warnock needs our support again to ensure he keeps his seat in the Senate. To help his reelection efforts, make a donation to his campaign.
Ohio Republican Sen. Rob Portman will not be running for reelection. Four Republicans have announced their bids for the seat. Several potential candidates, both Republicans and Democrats are considering a bid, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
North Carolina Current Republican Sen. Richard Burr will not be running for reelection. Both Democratic Sen. Jeff Jackson and Former Democratic Sen. Erica Smith have announced their bids. Former Rep. Mark Walker has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination but more possible contenders could announce soon such as Former Gov. Pat McCrory and President Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump.
Pennsylvania Current Republican Sen. Pat Toomey will not be running for reelection in 2022. Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta have both entered the race as Democratic candidates. The playing field in this state is expected to be very crowded.
